»How is this program unique?

The premise underlying the formation of the Samson Global Leadership Academy is that the competencies to lead and manage in a healthcare setting differ from those needed to be an effective physician, nurse and administrator. For example, it has been suggested by numerous authorities ^(1-7) that:

• The current process for training physicians blunts their reflexes and skills to collaborate.
• Traditional nurse training programs may under-prepare nurse leaders who are suddenly entrusted with the responsibility for budgets, strategic planning and conflict resolution.
• Few administrators with business or finance degrees have completed training in emotional intelligence, communication skills, cultural awareness and leading skills.

The Samson Global Leadership Academy offers attendees the full range of leadership and management know-how in a way that is unlike any other executive education experience. Attendees have the advantage of reality-based hands-on learning that includes:

• Absorbing leadership and management theory in a classroom and then walking the halls with Cleveland Clinic leaders to see first-hand how the work really gets done.
• Engaging in intimate roundtable discussions with Cleveland Clinic executives who are responsible for 40,000-plus employees, billion dollar budgets and the reputation of our organization.
• Working with a mentor to create a three-year leadership development plan that includes a leadership vision, potential blind spots and networking strategies.

»What is the two-week curriculum?

During this two-week curriculum led by some of the best minds in healthcare and academia, you will:

• Learn lessons, strategies and management techniques based on Cleveland Clinic’s successful business model
• Form a mentoring relationship
• Participate in small group shadowing and roundtable sessions
• Network with executives from Cleveland Clinic and from around the world
• Formulate a three-year leadership development plan

The two-week program also includes campus tours and a social event that invites one-on-one discussion. Our leaders are eager to share our hard-earned knowledge with the leaders of tomorrow, whether they are in healthcare or healthcare-related organizations and industries.

»What is the tuition?

All hotel and most meal expenses for the two-week program are included in the $15,000 tuition. Attendees are asked to arrange their own air and ground transportation to and from the InterContinental Hotel & Conference Center.
